Workshop Information:
Purpose: The purpose of this course is to educate nurses to conduct the medical-forensic examination for the pediatric population who has experienced sexual assault. Topics covered include: pediatric anogenital anatomy, pediatric medical-forensic examination, gathering a history from the pediatric patient, role of child protective services, sex offenders, pediatric strangulation, intersection of child maltreatment and domestic violence, and much more! This course adheres to the IAFN Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Education Guidelines. Participants may use this course as they strive to complete Texas and national certification requirements.
Participants musts have attended a 40 hr SANE education course for adults/adolescents prior to registering for this course.
Learning Outcome: The participant will conduct the medical-forensic examination for sexual assault in the pediatric population.
Cost: $20.00 (Covers refreshments of coffee, water and some light snacks during the training.)
Resources: Effective immediately, a notebook with printed materials will not be provided on site for the training course. Upon check in, a flash drive will be issued containing all course handouts. Bring a laptop to view the materials corresponding with each presentation. A notepad and pen will be provided for taking notes.

Terms and Conditions of Registration (fees, cancellations and refunds): Registration for this event (Texas Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Forensic Nursing Education: Pediatric) will close on January 2, 2020, to allow for logistics (facility, supplies, and/or refreshment coordination).
If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration immediately. Refund requests will be accepted up to three (3) working days (M-F) prior to the start of the event. Refund requests should be submitted to cynthiahurt@tamu.edu. Refunds will not be processed until the conclusion of the event. Refunds will not be automatically issued, and no shows will not receive a refund.
